• Reading Comprehension
  • Read prescribed books with fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, and comprehension (FAVC) steps
  • Understand, comprehend, and talk about the book in the class
  • Listen to other kids’ presentations and ask questions. 
  • Enrich vocabulary knowledge using the resource given below.
  • Share a word of the day with meaning to the class.

   

• Writing
  • Write sentences with correct grammar
  • Discuss and write short summaries using the character, setting, plot and theme. 
  • Parents will check the assignment in the Google Classroom. 

• Communication
  • Learn communication and character building skills in a fun environment.
  • Bring a topic of interest and share the importance of the topic.
  • Take and respond to questions from the class and respond to the questions in an impressive manner.  

•  Two prescribed online books are required for this class.  (parents will buy (price around $20) or get it from other sources. 
• Zoom access with video and audio (this course is online only)
• Collins Cobuild Primary Learner’s Dictionary will be used for word building and vocabulary skills (GFL subscription) 
• One book - One library or any other source (not prescribed) for the winter reading project
• Using book selection tips, parents will help their kids to select the books for the winter reading project
• Parents will help kids to practice their vocab words. Links will be available in the Google Classroom.
