• Reading comprehension 
  • Read two prescribed books in a group setting (fiction book for one group nonfiction book for the other one) 
  • Read the prescribed book individually using FAVC.
  • Share the  progress of reading with the rest of the  group 
  • Learn domain-specific vocabulary using a GFL source. 
  • Select a book for the Winter reading project to apply the learnings.

• Writing 
  • Prepare the presentation in a group setting.
  • Write summaries  for fiction and nonfiction.
• Communication and Character

• Take ownership and responsibility for their work 
• Learn to work in a group setting - listen to others, appreciate other points of view, refute gently, etc (see the first two points in the “writing” section).

• Thematic learning
  • “Great Lakes” as an intersubject theme that enable  the kids to learn  biology, math, geography, social studies, and literature, all in subjects 

•  Two required online books (one fiction and nonfiction)  (parents will buy - total price ~$20 or get from other sources)
• Google Classroom (most of the assignments and exercises can be completed using Google Classroom).
